Surprise Springtime Birthday Brunch!

For this special week that celebrates Moms everywhere, I thought it fitting to share the Surprise Birthday Brunch I threw for my lovely mother who turned the big 6-0. 60 is the new 30 is what I'm hearing these days :) The brunch was held at Winghaven Gardens, and I highly, highly recommend the venue for small events like birthdays, showers and dinner parties. It was simply divine!

When it comes to surprise parties, the big question is always "Was she surprised?!" Let the picture do the talking...

Ummm ya...she was surprised! That's her cute surprise look on the right :) She totally squealed.

I knew I wanted the party to be bright and colorful and have lots of yellow since it's moms favorite color. As I usually do, I found an invitation I liked and took it from there.

I rented coral polka dot linens and mint green napkins from Party Reflections and bought flowers from the Farmers Market. The striped tulips were simply gorge! I also printed photos of my mom from when she was little and displayed them in colorful frames. Look how cute she is :)

I ordered favor cookies from Sugarbakers and let me tell you - they were stunning and delicious to boot! I would use them again in a heartbeat. I sent them the invitation and they matched the florals exactly!

I also had special wine glasses made for the occasion from my favorite local gift store, Blis. They can personalize anything! Side note, if you're in Charlotte and haven't checked out their newly expanded space, you're missing out!

Now for the main attraction, the yummy brunch menu. I simply told Luke from Dean and Deluca that I wanted quiche and came up with the most perfect menu.

First course for our meander around the gardens was a miniature bacon egg and cheese panini.

We had several varieties of fresh scones at the table, as well as fruit skewers and the main course.

Paired with the Sun Dried Tomato, Goat Cheese and Spinach Quiche was a lemon orzo salad and roasted asparagus. It was perfect!

For dessert we had Dark Chocolate Truffles sprinkled with pink salt. They were fantastic.

Between the food, the gardens and surprising my Mom, it was a perfect day! A special thank to my Aunt and Uncle for visiting and helping with the brunch, and for moms BFF Sharon for getting her there despite her non-cooperative attitude. Ha.

I love you Mom! I hope you all have a wonderful Mothers Day celebrating your mom and treating yourself (if applicable). I plan to spoil my mom just a little more :) She deserves it.
