60 is the New Cateye Glasses

Seriously?! Where have I been? I guess since I am not forced to be in front the computer for 8 hours a day then it is harder for me to get a blog post in? Sorry!!! Within the next few weeks I will be getting into a routine which will include scheduled time for blogging.

Let's talk about the fab 60th birthday party I had the chance to be a part of this past weekend. Mr. Fo's aunt, Aunt Elizabeth (aka "Aunt E") recently turned 60 and a wonderful party was held in her honor. Aunt E is a middle school principal in Atlanta, Georgia. Before entering the wonderful word of educators, Aunt E was also someone who took pride in wearing the latest fashions. At the time, the latest fashions included cateye glasses. Here's Aunt E in her modeling days:

Did she rock these cateye glasses or what?! Needless to say we had to revolve the entire party around them.

We found cateye glasses in every color:

I made party favors (ordered from Vista Print)- magnets with a very important message "60 is the new cateye glasses." This way we will never forget.

We had Aunt E's face plastered on a cake from Sam's Club. It was the most fashionable cake I have ever seen.

Aunt Carol Fo even found a bunch of old pictures of Aunt E and made badges for everyone to wear, like this one:

I even made cookies in the shape of the number 60, to really get the point across.

They were really fun to make. I took these cookie cutters:

And connected them with a small piece of cookie dough in the back.

Baked them.

Then frosted them with royal icing. The royal icing is getting easier with practice but is still a big challenge for me.

By no means do I want to take credit for this party. I made the party favors and cookies, and helped to brainstorm a bit. The real champions of this party were Aunt Carol Fo and Drew, for being the hostess with the mostess. Also - big thanks to my father-in-law Art for taking the photos because I couldn't be there in time. It was really fun and a true celebration.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AUNT E - ROCK THOSE CATEYE GLASSES 4 LIFE!

Next up - Curious George party pics - stay tuned!
